Why we recommend it

A genuine neighbourhood temple rather than a tourist site, and the market in its grounds is one of the more authentically Thai places to eat in central Pattaya.

Our review

Compact, beautiful and entirely unbothered by tourism, sitting in the middle of South Pattaya where the city was once a fishing village. Come in the daytime for the temple itself, which is quiet and free to enter and where you can receive a blessing from a monk. Come in the evening for the market that runs in the grounds, where the crowd is mostly Thai and the food and clothing are priced accordingly. Cover shoulders and knees for the temple. The two visits are different enough to be worth making both.

Highlights

  • Free to enter, active neighbourhood temple
  • Evening market in the grounds
  • Mostly Thai crowd, local prices
  • Cover shoulders and knees
