There are very few people who don’t appreciate good quality, live music.
Thankfully, Pattaya is blessed with some fantastic live music bars as well as some that maybe aren’t quite so good! Entertainment is one of the things that we closely associate with Pattaya so there is little surprise that they deserve a guide all of their own. If live music is what really gets you going, why not try out some of these fantastic bars that are renowned for their live music?
The Stones House – Walking Street
No live music list would be complete without The Stones House that took on the mantel of being the best known live music bar after the Blues Factory closed. As the name would suggest, this is a bar that is based around the Rolling Stones and is indeed a very impressive venue. It can seat around 130 people at peak periods and has a fantastic atmosphere once the bands start which is around 7pm and goes on well into the early hours.
Candy Shop – Walking Street
Candy Shop has a live band playing almost every night and covers a wide range of music genres so suits just about everyone. Here you can listen to everything from soul to R&B and hip-hop. The resident bands are well known to locals as they have made the venue their home for a number of years. This certainly helps to create an excellent atmosphere.
The Lion Pub – South Pattaya
The Lion Pub has experienced some highs and lows in recent years but is now starting to make a comeback. Every Friday night they have a live band that changes each week although they do have some regulars. The style of music varies but tends to follow more of a rock theme but there will be some variations thrown in to ensure that they cater for everyone’s taste.
Soul Beer Town – Soi Buakhao
Soul Beer Town is a relative newcomer and is located in Tea Tree Town just off Soi Buakhao. This is a very relaxed venue that is epitomised by having bean bags to sit on rather than just standard tables and chairs. Live music is played every night from around 10pm and tends to last in the region of an hour. Varying genres of music are played depending on the band as well as the audience.
Hot Tuna Bar – Walking Street
Hot Tuna Bar is a great venue in Walking Street if you like live rock music. Here you will see some of the top local artists perform such as Lam Morrison. Most bands stick to the popular tunes by respected artists such as Guns N’ Roses and AC/DC although some do like to try something slightly different which tends to appeal to the more hardcore rock fans. Regardless, you will have a fantastic time anyway!
The Cave – LK Metro
This is a purpose-built music venue that although quite small, has great acoustics and attracts some top local bands. Live music plays every night and usually starts around 8.30pm and continues well into the night. This is another bar that favours rock music but if there is something that you particularly like, the bands tend to do all they can to accommodate it.
FuBar II – Soi Buakhao
FuBar 2 is located opposite the Night Bazaar. There are three bars that form part of the group but it is the FuBar 2 that is best known for live music that is available most nights. The venue tends to favour rock music but all types of music are played and it has a lively and friendly atmosphere so is well worth giving a try.
The Classroom – Soi 13/4
The Classroom is another bar that has needed to reinvent itself in recent years having previously been an agogo bar. They have live music almost every Friday and Saturday night and tends to opt for more old time classics. Again, they attract some top local bands and Barry Upton who is a regular in the place.
