Why we recommend it
The most refined kitchen on Mabprachan, doing Mediterranean and European plates with real technique in a setting most of the lake's venues can only gesture at.
Our review
August is where the lake stops being a bar strip and starts being a restaurant destination. The room is properly designed, the music sits at a level that leaves conversation intact, and the kitchen sends out risotto, pasta and lamb with the kind of attention that would not embarrass it in the city. Portions lean elegant rather than generous, which is the trade-off for the standard. Service runs slower than the Thai norm, so this is an evening to settle into rather than a quick stop. Closed one day a week, and worth booking at the weekend.
