Our review
A short climb up a staircase lined with naga brings you to the golden Buddha that gives the hill its name, and to a view that takes in most of the coastline. It stays devotional rather than touristic, which is part of the appeal. Cover shoulders and knees; wraps are available at the entrance if you arrive unprepared. Late afternoon is the moment, when the light softens and the city starts turning its lights on below you.
